Ambassador Muhammad Lawal Sulaiman graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria in 1981, where he obtained his first degree, B. A (History/Political Science) Hons.

He retired from the Nigerian Foreign Service in March 2017, after spending about 34 years. In the course of his career in the Foreign Service, he served at Nigerian Missions in Doula, Cameroun from 1986-1989, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations in New York from 1993-1999, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 2003-2007, Beijing, People’s ‘Republic of China from 2010-2012, Brasilia, Brazil from 2012-2014 and Jakarta, Indonesia from 2014-2016.

He currently resides in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital and is married with four children.
