Ambassador Mostafa Alaei

Mr. Mostafa ALAEI is a diplomat at the Ministry of External Affairs in Teheran He received B.A. & M.A in Political Science and International Relations from Delhi and Bhopal University and PHD candidate for international law from Payam Noor University in Tehran, Certificates on Human Rights Course from Canadian Foundation for Human Rights, Prince Edward Island University, Canada and International Institute for Humanitarian Law in San Remo, Italy.

Mr. Alaei is a career diplomat from 1982 specialising on Human Rights almost from the date of entry into service.

He has been posted in Geneva(1991-1996) and New York(1999-2003) serving in the then Commission on Human Rights, Human Rights Council and the Third Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations respectively.

He has been active participant in the 1990’ world conferences. Mr. Alaie has been posted to Cuba as ambassador in 2006. He has also served as the Head of Human rights department of the Ministry and currently is the deputy Director-General on Human Rights and Women Affairs.

He has been the chairperson of several Human Rights Geographical Groups at the UN system including Asian Group and Group 21 in Geneva and the Islamic Group, Group 77, and Likeminded Group in New York.

He has also served as the Vice-Chairperson of the Third Committee of the General Assembly and the “Working Group on Situations” of the Commission of Status of Women, the Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Non_ Governmental Organizations of the ECOSOC Mr. Alaei is the Author of several articles on different dimensions of International Law including Human Rights Law at the PHD level and serves as Human Rights lecturer at the Universities.

He currently resides in Tehran. He is married with three children.
