IPHRC attends the proceedings of the 37th HRC

As part of its regular activities to participate in the meetings of the relevant regional and international human rights mechanisms, a delegation of IPHRC consisting of Commission Members Amb. Mustafa Alaei, Mr. Alhoussein Thiam and Mr. Tahar Hamdi attended the 37th Session of the UN Human Rights Council from 12-16 March 2018.

IPHRC delegation took the opportunity to convey its views during the interactive dialogues with the Special Rapporteur on Myanmar and Fact-Finding Mission on Myanmar; Special Rapporteur on Minorities as well as the debate on Racism and Racial Discrimination.

Statements made by the IPHRC were circulated to all Member States and are also available on the OHCHR website.

In addition to attending interactive debates of the Council on various human rights issues, IPHRC delegation utilized the opportunity to interact with relevant UN officials and representatives of the OIC and other Member States.

IPHRC delegation also took the opportunity to meet the representatives of the Sri Lankan Mission and some of the Myanmar and Kashmiri NGOs to discuss the ongoing situation in these areas. During the Session, Executive Director of IPHRC also briefed the OIC Ambassadorial Group on the ongoing work and activities of the Commission.

OIC-IPHRC participated in the 44th Session of Conference of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Abidjan and called upon Member States to promote human rights respecting and protecting societies to strengthen the youth role in fostering peace and development in all OIC Member States.

OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) delegation led by its Vice Chairperson, Dr. Rashid Al Balushi, participated in the 44th Session of the OIC Conference of Foreign Ministers (CFM) held in Abidjan Republic of Cote d’Ivoire from 10-11 July 2017.


OIC-IPHRC delegation participated in the First Session of the OIC Ministerial Conference on marriage and family affairs and urged the Muslim World to devise a coordinated strategy to counter the deviant notion of (SOGI) at all levels

Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) delegation led by its Member Dr. Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin, participated in the First Session of the Ministerial Conference on preservation of the values of marriage and family institution in OIC Member States’ from 08-09, February, 2017 at Jeddah in which she made a detailed presentation on the subject at the Senior Officials’ Meeting and delivered a comprehensive statement at the Ministerial Session.
