OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission to hold its International Seminar on Human Rights Education in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta from 12-13 October, 2015


As part of its scheduled activities, OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, shall be organizing its 2015 Annual International Seminar on ‘Human Rights Education’ in Jakarta on 12-13 October, 2015.


The Seminar will be inaugurated by Her Excellency Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Besides IPHRC Commission Members, the event will be attended by international experts from multilateral and intergovernmental organizations such as UNESCO, ISESCO, UN OHCHR as well as representatives of OIC Member and Observer States including their National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), relevant academics and professionals.


The major objectives of this seminar include (i) raising awareness, and sharing experiences (ii) developing respect for cultural and religious diversity based on equality and mutual respect and tolerance, (iii) pursuing the effective realization of human rights through unified action of all stake holders, (iv) integration of human rights values into schools and training curricula as well as training of government officials and functionaries of relevant departments, (v) motivation for social action and empowerment for active citizenship to advance respect for the human rights of all including through the active involvement of media.
