IPHRC strongly condemns the terrorist attacks on the Coptic Churches in Egypt

The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-IPHRC) strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attacks on the churches in the Egyptian cities of Tanta and Alexandria on Sunday 9 April 2017, which resulted in loss of lives of innocent civilians and injury to others.

The Commission while extending its sincere condolences to families of the victims, reiterated its firm stance against all forms and manifestations of terrorism and affirmed that no religion condones terrorism or taking lives of innocent people. Accordingly, extremists, in whatever name, who perpetrate crimes against innocent people, should be brought to justice, so as to ensure the rule of law and avoid impunity as well as to ensure peace and stability of respective societies.

IPHRC also expressed full solidarity with the Government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt in facing such cowardly terrorist attacks and extended full moral support to the efforts of the Egyptian authorities to track down the perpetrators of this crime.
